Obituary For Dennis D. Martin

Dennis D. Martin 68, of Steubenville , OH died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Trinity West.  He was born in East Chicago, IN on October 17, 1941 the son of the late Barney Martin and the late Hazel I. Grafton Martin Mance.  Dennis was retired from United Parcel Service as a driver and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He attended Buena Vista United Methodist Church and was a member of Teamsters Local # 697.  Dennis enjoyed antique cars and was a avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father Charles Mance.  Survived by his wife Roberta N. “Bobbi” Boughner Martin; son Benjamin C. (Chris) Martin of Deshler, OH; half-sister Shirley Link of California; step-sister Marsha (Ira) Jarvis of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Nancy (Michael) Mihalyo of Wintersville; brother-in-law Lee (Rae) Boughner of Erie, CO and his furry companion Roxy.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Saturday 6-8p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be Monday, 10a.m. with Pastor Bob Welch officiating.  Burial at Union Cemetery, where Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct military honors.

    Bobbi, We are deeply sorry for your loss. It was too soon and none of us were ready but God must have had plans for him, maybe just to end his suffering and God must have felt that you were strong enough to endure the loss. We loved both of you like family and will miss our friend greatly. Denny was a wonderful person who did not give up the fight. We will always be here for you for whatever you need and at any time.     Bobbi and Family, We were so sorry to hear of Denny's death. We have many happy memories and Tyler in particular remembers how he used to tease him about football teams. He was a special person. We enjoyed his many memories of past escapades. What an encourager he was to his friends. Our prayers are with you as your mourn. May the Lord comfort you as you trust in Him during this difficult time.
