David Michael Viltro, 68, of Richmond, Ohio passed away Friday May 23, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born July 1, 1956 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Leah Mae “Sue” McClain Viltro. In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his brother Frank Viltro, Jr.
Dave graduated with the 1974 class of Wintersville High School and then attended Ohio State University. Before his recent retirement, Dave was the proud owner of Sportsman’s Trading Post, LLC in Wintersville, Ohio, a business he initially acquired with his father. Throughout his 43 years as a business owner, many of Dave’s loyal customers became lifelong friends. He was known for his great sense of humor, as is evident in the many memorable and often humorous commercials he created to promote Sportsman’s Trading Post.
Dave enjoyed his 10 years as an assistant soccer coach at Edison High School. He grew up hunting and fishing with his father, which contributed to his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed playing golf as well as creatively tending to landscaping projects at his home.
Dave’s most cherished times were spent with his family, as his love for them was immeasurable. He is survived by his wife Deborah Ann Gribben Viltro, son Anthony David Viltro, daughter Angela Michelle Viltro, and sister Lana Sue Viltro (Jerry) Jarrett. Also, brother-in-law James (Janet) Gribben, Jr. and sister-in-law Barbara Gribben (Robert) Goines.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Saturday May 31 from 3 p.m. until time of the service at 5 p.m. with Pastor Greg Kasler of Finley Methodist Church in Steubenville, Ohio officiating. Private burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
