David "Dave" L. Higgins Sr. of Mingo Junction, Ohio, died on Thursday morning surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
Born May 16, 1945, Dave grew up on a farm in Broadacre, Ohio.
He worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. for forty years and at the Jefferson County CAC for over ten years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and David S. Higgins; sister, Dolores "Punkin';" and daughter, Alysan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl L. Higgins; three sisters; his six children, David (Jill) of Mississippi, Christen of Wintersville, Jesse (Kayla) of Steubenville, Joseph of Columbus, Colin (Ashley) of Cincinnati, and Cassy of Columbus; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, as well as his beloved dog, Sammie.
A memorial gathering of family, friends, and food will be held Monday, December 18, from 5-8 p.m. in the community room at Heritage Village Apartments, located at 3010 Johnson Road in Steubenville
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
