David A. “Turk” Kelps, 64 of Steubenville passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at Trinity West. He was born in Steubenville on July 18, 1947 a son of the late Edward A. and Dorothy Reed Kelps. He was employed for many years at the Jefferson County Sheltered Workshop. Through the years, he made lifelong friends thru his CB radio with the handle “Turk”. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Ann Ovington. Survived by his life partner Ruth Ellen Rodgers; brothers Ron (Susie) Kelps and Ken (Debbie) Kelps; sisters Kathy (Al) Pavlik and Beverly (Jim) Lipinski; brother-in-law Gordon Ovington; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of memorial services at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 6, at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Sheltered Workshop.

So sorry to hear about David's passing at such a young age. Not many will remember me, but I sure do remember David. We were neighbors on Roosevelt Avenue. (I lived in the red house at 1620.) Never saw David but what he always a smile on his face and such a kind and loving way about him. May our Father give you the peace and comfort that only He can give to see you through your grief.
