Obituary For Darrell G. Gaylord

“Our country is in mourning for a soldier died today.” Darrell G. Gaylord of Steubenville, Ohio passed away Monday, February 9, 2016 at his home. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late Jack and Olive Kirkbride Gaylord. Darrell retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel as a boilermaker and was a WW II Army veteran. In his earlier years, Darrell played for Zimnox Coalers and Steubenville Lions baseball teams. Darrell was preceded in death by his wife Josephine Cavallini Gaylord. Surviving are his children Jack (Laura) Gaylord and Sara (Tony) DiCarlantonio both of Steubenville and Jamie (Bob) MacKay of Sugarland, TX; three grandchildren whom he cherished and adored throughout his lifetime, Anthony DiCarlantonio and Mariah & Mercedes MacKay. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Saturday from 1 – 5 p.m. Burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hounds’ Haven Inc., 22 Twp. Road 150, Dillonvale, OH 43917.

    So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I always thought he was a great guy and always enjoyed talking to him when he came in, especially our talks about Texas and places we both knew there. He was extremely proud of all of his family.
