Obituary For Darline M. Hoff

Darline M. Hoff, 100, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 3, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born January 25, 1919 in Mt. Hope, Ohio a daughter of the late William & Cora Rothacher. After graduating from Berlin High School, Darline went to Canton Beauty School and managed White Cross Beauty Shop. She married Donald S. Hoff on April 4, 1948 and they moved to Mingo Junction in 1951 and established Hoff Funeral Home, which she helped manage for many years. Very active in Mingo community affairs, she was a member of Mingo U.M. Church and Mingo Womans Club. Darline co-authored the Bicentennial Book of Mingo and worked tirelessly on Community Day events. She also chaired the Mingo Beautification Committee and was honored with the Outstanding Citizen Award in early 2000. Darline loved Mingo and its people very much and always loved to help the town. Darline was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Donald; granddaughter Kristen Rosario; son-in-law Joseph Rosario; and siblings Donald Rothacher & Ruby Sauvain.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Darline is survived by her two daughters of Canton, Ohio, Kathy (Russ) Bender, granddaughter Lauren (Glenn) Boyer and great granddaughters Hannah & Emmaline Boyer; and Sondra (Richard) Hendrus, granddaughters Chelsea & Miranda Hendrus; sister-in-law Lavonne Rothacher; many nieces, nephews; and dear friends.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Friday 4-6 p.m.; where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial at Oakland Cemetery.

    Darlene opened that door for many grieving families in Mingo with always compassion and comfort. She was a true Mingo legend. May you find peace knowing that your mother will always be remembered for her kindness.  Rest in peace Darlene.
