Daniel M. Granatir, Sr., 77, of Bloomingdale, Ohio passed peacefully Saturday, December 24, 2016 at The Laurels of Steubenville after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born November 8, 1939 a son of the late Paul E. & Suzanne Smeriga Granatir. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Daniel proudly served his Country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a former volunteer fireman with the Belvedere Volunteer Fire Department. Daniel retired from Weirton Steel.
Preceding Daniel in death were his parents; brothers Michael, Paul, George, John & Edward Granatir; sisters Mary & Alice Granatir; daughter-in-law Lori Granatir and son-in-law George Luikart.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice E. Gundrum Granatir; and his four children Debra Luikart of Marion, Paula (John) Tulenko of Appleton, WI, Daniel M. Granatir, Jr. of Bloomingdale and Sherry (Robert) Duvall of Bloomingdale; brother Andrew of Wintersville; sister Mary (Glen) Donahue of Richmond and sister-in-law S. June Granatir of Wintersville; ten grandchildren and one great grandson.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass 10 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church with Msgr. Kurt Kemo officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Vigil services 4 p.m. Wednesday
