Daisy I. “Betty” Schmied, 90, of Wintersville died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Trinity West. She was born February 24, 1919 in Cleveland, OH the daughter of the late Raymond and Daisy Fulton Hafer. She was retired from the Jefferson County Courthouse, where she worked in the Treasurer’s Office. She belonged to the Ladies Circle of Two Ridge Presbyterian Church and played cards every month with the Ladies 500 Card Club of Wintersville. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Henry Schmied; son Timothy Schmied and her daughter Sherry Schmied; sisters Violet Orwick and Rayleen Gump. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Mary June Schmied of Steubenville; granddaughter Cindy Misogiane of Steubenville; grandsons Rick (Lorraine) Schmied of Wintersville and Dave (Molly) Schmied of Columbus, OH; granddaughter Kathi Harding of Wintersville; great grandchildren Greg (Karla), Brett, Megan, Mallory, Tyler, Lucas, Kayla and Tim; great great grandchildren Kendelle and Braylen and her beloved pets, her dog Megan and cats Handsome and Precious. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday from 5-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Saturday, 10a.m. with Fr. Jeff Baker officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Memorial contributions may be made to Hounds Haven.
