Clifford Edward Hanle, Sr. passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025. He was born July 1, 1940 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Gertrude and Bill Hanle. He lived in Steubenville his entire life and worked for the Steubenville Street Department. He was proud of his job and talked about it often.
Cliff loved cutting grass and took great pride in his yard. He also loved his dogs and missed them dearly. He was passionate about food, especially his sweets and often talked about his love of Naples, Arby’s, and Burger King. Cliff loved Lifetime and Hallmark movies but never passed up a chance to watch reality TV, especially Cops. He had a sweet and loving personality and was able to finally enjoy the quiet solitude of retirement in the final year of his life with the amazing staff at Country Club Manor and the caring staff of Valley Hospice.
Cliff was preceded in death by his brother John Hanle, his wife Charlotte, and his four children, Clifford E. Hanle Jr., Patty Ann Styer, Betty Jo Nicosia, and Michael “T” Hanle.
He leaves behind his sister, JoAnn Hanle of Columbus, daughter-in-law Patty Hanle of Wintersville, son-in-law Mike Styer of Steubenville, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Monday 5-7 p.m., where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial at Union Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Jefferson County Humane Society in Clifford’s name.

When I worked at the PNC Bank in Steubenville, I assisted Mr Hanle quite often. He was a kind and caring gentleman.
