Obituary For Cleo E. Rowe

Cleo Elizabeth Davis Rowe, 96, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on July 24, 1917 in Steubenville, Ohio the daughter of the late David John and Mary Elizabeth (Bickerstaff) Davis.  Cleo worked at the family owned business the Black Bear Inn, and was on staff at the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County for 15 years.  Cleo also served as a mentor for children at Wintersville Elementary.  Cleo was a charter member of the Buena Vista United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for 39 years.  She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star LaBelle Chapter #414 and received her 50 year pin in 2011.  She was a member of the First Family of Jefferson County.One of Cleo’s favorite hobbies was playing cards and she was involved in various card clubs for over 67 years.Cleo was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years John W. Rowe whom she married on August 22, 1934; an infant son; infant daughter Janet; infant grandson Curtis Bambic; brother John E. Davis and sisters Dorothy Margaret Davis (infant) and Edith L. Saltsman.  She is survived by her son John T. “Jack” (Kathy) Rowe of Wilson, N.C.; daughters Janice (Bill) Plante of East Springfield, Ohio, Charlotte (Ric) Bambic of Bellbrook, Ohio, Cheryl (Scott) Wells of Wintersville, Ohio and Kim (Jack) Beveridge of Centreville, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons and numerous nephews and nieces.  Family and friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, on Friday 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. and on Saturday at Buena Vista United Methodist Church, 3801 Schenley Ave., Steubenville, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Bob Welch officiating.  Entombment at Fort Steuben.  Eastern Star service Friday 6:15 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Buena Vista United Methodist Church, 3801 Schenley Ave., Steubenville, OH 43952.

    To the family, sorry for your loss, you are not alone today for other hearts feel sorrow, too, during this time of sorrow, may friends and love ones provide you with support and comfort to ease some of the pain. John5:28,29 says "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out" death is an enemy 1Corinthians 15:26 God hates death, he said he will bring death to nothing. So we have a promise and a hope of seeing our love ones again. Psalms 37:10,11.
