Clara Pearl Pyles, 90, of Steubenville, OH died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Sienna Woods. She was born in Carrollton, OH on December 17, 1921 a daughter of the late Jesse L. and Nellie C. Lotz Slates. Pearl was a charter member of Brentwood United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and the Kmart Breakfast Club. Pearl was the owner of the former Pearls Cut and Curl Beauty Nook in Wintersville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Pyles in 1988; brothers Lorin and Harold Slates. Survived by her son Roger G. Pyles of Steubenville; daughter Kathy J. (Daniel) Furda of Wintersville; sister Wilma Arpen of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughters Danya Furda and her husband Jim Pinkham of Gahanna, OH and Dana (John) Koehl of Hilliard, OH; great grandchildren Makenna and Ian Koehl. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be Saturday, 11a.m. with Rev. Bill Westling officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions may be made to Brentwood U.M. Church or the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
