Chester F. Friebe 89 of Weirton, WV formerly of Steubenville, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Trinity West. He was born in Rochester, PA on June 23, 1914 the son of the late Gustave and Anna Karbin Friebe. He was the retired manager of the former Isaly’s in Steubenville. Chester was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, American Legion Argonne Post 33 and Steubenville Art Association. He was an Army veteran of WWII and preceded in death by one sister Helen Salchi. Surviving are his wife Leora E. Williamson Friebe; one son James (Madelaine) Friebe of Weirton; one daughter Patricia (Joseph) DeFrank of Batavia, Ohio; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a sister Lou Tanzie of Steubenville. Memorial services will be held at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Walter A. Coppersmith officiating. No Visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Steubenville unit of the American Red Cross.
