Charles S. “Charlie” Thompson 95 of Steubenville, Ohio died Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Palliative Care Unit. He was born in Jewett, Ohio on January 7, 1910 a son of the late Charles Harvey and Jennie Spence Thompson. Charles retired from management at Ohio Nut and Washer Company, formerly located in Mingo Junction. He was a member and elder emeritus at Covenant Presbyterian Church as well a former Sunday School superintendent and choir member. Charles had served as president of Council of Churches; president of Steubenville Art Association; board chairman of Salvation Army; Jefferson County Historical Society; Y’s Men’s Club and Y.M.C.A. He joined Steubenville Rotary in 1970 and on October 1, 2004 was bestowed “Honorary Rotarian” . Charles is a Paul Harris Fellow in both Steubenville and Tucson, Arizona Rotary Clubs. Charles is survived by his wife Eva M. Dennis Thompson, whom he married on August 14, 1948 and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were two brothers Donald E. and Jon K. Thompson. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Walter A. Coppersmith officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.
