Charles F. “Chuck” Schmidt 85 of Wintersville died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Trinity West, Steubenville. He was born in Danora, PA on June 6, 1919 a son of the late Charles and Mary Neville Schmidt. He was Catholic by faith and a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post 557, Wintersville. Chuck served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 145th infantry in the South Pacific. Preceded in death by a brother Frank Schmidt and sisters Anne Skettino and Dorothy Moran. He is survived by his wife Carol Palmer Schmidt, whom he married August 23, 1947, daughter Deborah and son-in-law O’Brien Brooks of Charlotte, NC, son Charles Gregory and daughter-in-law June Finstrom Schmidt of Los Angeles, CA, sister Julie Weiss of North Carolina, brothers Bill and Donald Bell, both of Winterhaven, FL and Ronald Bell of Los Angeles, CA, sister-in-law Roberta and her husband Bill Shanley of Wintersville, many nieces and nephews.
