Obituary For Carl A. Cotton

Carl A. Cotton 70 of Wintersville, Ohio died Saturday, March 2, 2002 in the ER at Trinity West. He was born in Mingo Jct., OH on June 11, 1931. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wintersville, its Mens Club; K of C Council 472, Wintersville, OH; Crusillo Movement; American Legion Argonne Post 33, Steubenville, OH; and Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Carl retired as a machinist from Weirton Steel Co. and served in US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was preceeded in death by his father Carl A. Cotton and one sister Lois Carol Yuricic. Surviving are his wife Margaret A. “Peggy” Hock Cotton whom he married on Oct. 10, 1953; two sons John Cotton and his wife Benny of Unionport, OH and Timmy Cotton of Wintersville; two daughters Kathy Smurthwaite and her fiance Keith McCloud of Steubenville and Marney Remp and her husband Larry of Wintersville; his mother Elouise Taylor Cotton of Toronto, OH. Eight grandchildren and one great grandson. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Msgr. Gerald E. Calovini officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville. Vigil services 3:45 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Western PA Chapter, 6931 Arlington Rd., Bethesda, MD 20814. American Legion Post 33 to conduct services at cemetery chapel.
