C. Virginia “Jessie” Hatcher 77 of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Trinity West, Steubenville. She was born in Dover, Ohio on July 21, 1925 a daughter of the late Earl D. and Pauline Johnston James. Jessie was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church and its Miriam Circle; and the Garden Department of the Woman’s Club of Steubenville. She was a graduate of Steubenville High School Class of 1942 and attended Mount Union College. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Paul E. Hatcher whom she married on January 28, 1956 and he died on December 22, 1993 and one sister Dorothy James Alexander. Surviving are one son Jeffrey P. Hatcher and his wife Lisa Stevens of Excelsior, Minnesota; her grandson Evan Hatcher; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. John M. Zuercher officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville. Memorial contributions may be made to Starkdale Church or the Scleraderma Foundation.
