C. Edward “Ed” Mathews, 77, of Mingo Junction died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Trinity West ER. He was born March 8, 1929 in Deandale, Ohio, a son of the late Daniel E. and Ruth M. Wilson Mathews. Preceded in death by a son Ronald Edward Mathews; brother Robert Earl Mathews. Ed retired from the former Satralloy Plant and the International Mill Service. He held membership at the First United Methodist Church, Mingo and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Survived by his wife Margaret Ann “Peggy” Dunlap Mathews; son Thomas Lee Mathews and daughter Janet Marie (Keith) Duncan both of Mingo Junction; three grandchildren Renee Michelle (Todd) Wurstner of Hilliard, OH, Brian Duncan of Columbus and Cory Mathews of Rush Run; one great grandson Cade Wurstner. Friends may call at the Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Monday 6-8 p.m., Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Karen Upson officiating. Burial at Oakland Cemetery, Mingo Junction. Memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church.
