Burke D. “Sully” Sullivan, Sr. 84 of Wintersville, Ohio died Friday, January 23, 2004 at home. He was born in Folsom, WV on October 30, 1919 a son of the Tennyson L. and Delphia Haddox Sullivan. He was retired from National Steel Corp., Weirton Steel Division as a rigger field foreman and attended Covenant Presbyterian Church. Burke held membership in Steubenville Oddfellows, Toastmasters Club and Wintersville Volunteer Fire Dept. He served on the Board for Advancements for Boy Scouts of America and was an Army veteran of WWII. Preceding him in death were one son Dwight C. “Sully” Sullivan on June 14, 2000; one brother Paul Raymond Sullivan and one sister Doris Pifer. Burke is survived by his wife Mildred H. Walter Sullivan; three sons Burke D. (Judy) Sullivan, Jr. of Steubenville, Dwain (Linda) Sullivan of Canton, Ohio and Mark (Maude) Sullivan of Port Orange, FL; daughter-in-law Beverly A. Bowman Sullivan of Steubenville; two sisters Ruth Maze and Edith Kopras of Mingo Junction; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday 4-8 p.m.; where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Walter A. Coppersmith officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Ohio Valley Veterans will conduct services at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Church % Dwight C. Sullivan Memorial Missions Fund or Valley Hospice
