Bob Oklok, 80, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at his home. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 25, 1935, the son of the late Spiro Oklok and Mildred Licina Oklok Blagovich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Sam Blagovich, brother Mike Oklok, three sisters Lucille Popovich, Elizabeth Rowland and Geri Hare. Bob began his career as an adjustor for Underwriters Adjusting Company and a field representative for Buckeye Union Insurance Company before becoming a partner in Mattey-Oklok Insurance Agency, later known as Oklok-Criss & Associates. Bob was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church, Unionport Masonic Lodge #333, Steubenville Scottish Rite and Steubenville Country Club. He served on both the Ohio Valley Hospital & Trinity Health Systems Hospital Boards.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Carol A. Patton Oklok; daughters Lori (Mike) Yashko of Naples, FL, Lisa (Terry) Lanham of Powell, OH, Lynette (Jim) Cavanaugh of Andover, Mass; five grandchildren Alexis, Larissa, Nicholas, Evan and Peyton; brothers Dr. George (Helen) Oklok of Upper Sandusky, OH, and Sam Blagovich of Hopedale; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Sunday 1 – 3 & 6 – 8 pm. Additional calling on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at Starkdale Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Jewett, OH. I just heard about Mr. Oklok's passing on Oct 1st. I was saddened by the news but just wanted to pass my condolences to the family. I knew Mr. Oklok from my time working at the Steubenville Country Club and remember thinking very highly of him because of they way he handled himself and how he treated me and the others who worked there. He taught me a few things about golf but more importantly he showed me how to be a manager and leader by his interaction with others. God Bless him and his family.
