Blanche M. “Granny” Settles 86 of Wintersville, Ohio died Friday, December 19, 2003 at Trinity West. She was born in Massillon, Ohio on February 9, 1917 a daughter of the late Herbert and Myrtle Thatcher Taylor. Granny retired from Ohio Valley Hospital as a ward helper in the nursery. She was a member of Finley U.M. Church and was preceded in death by her husband Earl W. Settles in 1974; one daughter Carolyn Everhart; three sisters Anna Mae Collins, Sadie Bell Kerwood, and Gracie Taylor; and two brothers Francis and Clarence Taylor. Surviving are one son John Corey (Diane) Settles of Mt. Pleasant, WV; four daughters Shirley (William) Kessinger of Sunderland, MD, Beverly (Leo) Tickle of Danville, VA, Nancy (John) Lantier of Shadyside, MD and Mary Lou (Gary) Stanley of Mingo Junction; one brother Russell Taylor of Mingo; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and her companion Robert Hosterman of Wintersville and his children Randy Hosterman of Bloomingdale, Loren (Tami) Hosterman of Wintersville, Ronda (Larry) Mattern of Wintersville, Lavonne (Edward) Gribben of Florida and 12 grandchildren. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Avenue, Mingo Junction, on Sunday 1-4 p.m.; where services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday with Rev. P. Douglas George officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Heart Association.
