I physically left Wintersville nearly 70 years ago; however I never left in spirit and memories. My most vivid memory of Blanche is intertwined with those of my Mom and the Wintersville Bridge Club. Since I was the oldest, I "had to help" Mom get ready for the group to meet at our house and to "be available" to help her should she need me during the affair. Mom and Blanche were very close so she was usually the first to arrive. She was always so gracious, never treated me as a child, and always interested in things I was doing. The first of my two returns to Fernwood Road was in 1977 when Dad died. Since Blanche was in Florida, I was invited to stay at her home, where her comforting warmth surrounded me. My second return was more than ten years later for Mom's funeral. That time Blanche's daughter Pat welcomed me into her home. Pat and my baby sister, Jane Ellen, were pals so Pat had been frequently in our home. It was obvious that Blanche had passed to her daughter the warmth, graciousness, and empathy that was her hallmark' Godspeed Blanche. You have enriched the lives of so many.

I grew up with Pat and Mary Beth and Blanche was my second Mom. She was always a classy lady and loved everybody. She and my Mom were best friends all of our growing up years. What a wonderful thing to be able to live to 102 and be able to stay in your own home with help and lots of love from her daughters and sons-in-laws. She will be missed, but certainly is in a better place. I'm thankful for having had her in my life as I grew up. With much love and many wonderful memories!!
