Bernard C. “Bernie” “Pap” Carl, 84, of Wintersville, OH went to be with his Lord Wednesday, January 26, 2011. He was born in Wheeling, WV on February 23, 1926 a son of the late William and Lucy Bohlman Carl. Bernie was retired from the former Helms Trucking in Tridelphia, WV. He was an US Army veteran of WWII, member of Smithfield Masonic Lodge 182 and Zion Lutheran Church, Wheeling, WV. He enjoyed attending Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Bloomingdale, OH. Preceded in death by first wife Margaret Sinn Carl in 1998; brothers Joseph and Wilbert Carl; sister Ella Reith. Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 11 years Joan Kravanya Bolyard Carl; son Rev. Bernard (Barbara) Carl of Uniontown, PA; daughter Debbie (Butch) Talbert of Shadyside, OH; brothers Rev. Gerald (Sheila) Carl of Tuscarawas, OH and Donald (Patty) Carl of Wheeling, WV; grandchildren William Carl of Hawaii, William Talbert of California and Pam (Bryan) Smith of Shadyside, OH. Loving father to his stepchildren Dona (Butch) Rairigh and Mona (William) Krach, both of Wintersville; step grandchildren John “Rusty” Rairigh, Matt Rairigh and Gary Millhorn all of Wintersville and Suzette (Scott) Goddard of Newark, OH; 9 step great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday from 1p.m. until time of service at 4:30p.m. with his son Rev. Bernard Carl and his brother Rev. Gerald Carl officiating. Interment will be private at a later date. Family wishes to thank Charity Hospice for their help during Bernie’s illness.
