Obituary For Beatrice W. "Bea" Simmons

Beatrice W. “Bea” Simmons, 86, of Bloomingdale, Ohio died Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Trinity West.  She was born in Short Creek, Ohio (Harrison Co.) on October 20, 1922 the daughter of the late William T. and Leota Smyth Watson.  Preceded in death by one brother John Watson and a sister Lois Lightner.She was a member of Bloomingdale UM Church where she held numerous offices and served as a Sunday school teacher; Unionport Chapter of the Eastern Star #360; Unionport Auxiliary #45; Wayne Twp. Senior Citizens and Wayne Twp. Board of Elections for over 35 years; Graduate of Scio High School class of 1939.Survived by her husband Ralph O. Simmons and a son William Lee (Pamela) Simmons both of Bloomingdale; sister Alice Moore of Scio; grandson Clint Trushel of Wintersville; granddaughter Heather Miller of Ripley WV; great-grandson Noah Miller and numerous nephews and nieces.Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.  Rev. Hubert Granger officiating.  Burial at Bloomingdale Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society, Jefferson  Co. Chapter.

    We live in Cleveland Tennessee, and were so sad to hear of the passing of Bea Simmons. She was a very special lady. Our hearts go out to her loving husband Ralph.     I have so missed working with Bea in the Log Cabin at the Apple Stirring the last few years. What a special lady she was.Her gentle, kind soul was a healing presence to all who came in contact with her. She will be truly missed.
