Barry Franklin Bickerstaff, 79, of Wintersville, OH passed away on January 9, 2016. He was born on June 7, 1936 in Steubenville, Ohio. He was the son of the late Alice J. Bickerstaff. Barry is survived by the love of his life and wife of over 60 years, Lois (Kell) Bickerstaff; a daughter Susan (James) Bucci of Weirton; and sons Joseph Bickerstaff of Richmond, OH and Brian (Kelley) Bickerstaff of Marysville, OH. Also, five grandchildren: Kacy and Jared Magnone of Weirton; Benjamin, Jayson and Katelyn Bickerstaff of Marysville, OH; a sister, Betty Ferguson of Wintersville, OH and a very special nephew, Gary (Phyllis) Bickerstaff of Steubenville, OH. In addition, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kay Bowers of Deland, FL, Betty Bickerstaff of Weirton, WV and Joan Bickerstaff of Steubenville, OH as well as brother-in-law, Ronald Ferguson of Anaheim, CA. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his three brothers, Bill, Bernard and Glenn Bickerstaff; sisters Ellen Rennie and Madeline Bickerstaff; sister-in-law Shirley Ferguson and brother-in-law William Bowers. Barry was a 1954 graduate of Steubenville High School, an active alumnus and avid Big Red fan. He was an attendee of Grace Lutheran Church and is a retiree from Weirton Steel and Sherwin Williams. He was also a member of Dip N’ Dive Square Dance Club and a past president of the Wintersville Football Boosters. Barry was many things; a husband, father, uncle and friend but probably his favorite title of all was “Pappy” to his five grandchildren. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s school and sporting events and spending time with his family. Barry’s family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, OH. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 with Pastor Michael Heckathorn officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.
