Mr, Evans was a good friend to my Mom and me, helping us quite a few times. I was 16, pulled over for going left of center and was driving on an expired permit, My "sentence" was to get my license within 45 days. If it hadn't been for "Gus", I doubt I would ever have learned to drive! I know he was admired and respected by many. My sincere sympathy to your family.

Joyce and family, I'm so sorry to hear that another great, colorful person is gone. I am Jake's daughter, and for years whenever Gus' name was mentioned, the story of him getting stranded in Maryland in Dad's horse van got us rolling on the floor. Gus called the house at 4a.m. to let Dad know he was stuck, because he couldn't think of anyone else to call. They truly are the greatest generation.

A great lawyer and partner. I'll pick up the desk floor mat later.

  • 09/03/2024

I have known Gus for almost 30 years, when I first met him as a neighbor to Fernwood State Forest. Almost immediately I could see that he was a remarkable person, intelligent, confident, and a man that loved his family. I am deeply grateful for the wisdom and advice he gave me at times, and have respected and admired him all these years. May God Bless his family and give Gus special blessings for the life he shared with us.

Dear Evans Family, I'm sorry for your loss. Gus was a great guy, always willing to help. My mother Geraldine was his and J.J's secretary during the 60's/70's. He helped me as a teenager by giving me the job of cleaning his office building when I was in high school and he was there when I had legal questions when Mom passed away in '93. I was always fascinated by the law office when I was a little kid...all those books and fine furniture. He was a great man, part of a great generation and will be missed in Jefferson County. I would be there on behalf of my mother, but I live in Idaho now, so Joyce and family, I hope for you all of God's blessings and comfort. Blessings, Paul Pyle
