Obituary For August H. Nezick

August H. Nezick, 86 of Steubenville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Valley Hospice, after a brief illness, with his family by his side.

He was born in Weirton, WV. on March 13, 1937, the son of the late Martin Nezick and Madeline Barone Nezick Sessi. Augie was raised by his late Barone Grandparents until the age of 13, he then went on to live with his late Uncle Renaldo and late Aunt Valentina Barone.

On May 30, 1959, Augie married the love of his life Mabel “May” DiAngelo Nezick, in which they celebrated 63 years together. Also surviving is their son Martin (Patricia) Nezick of Defiance, Ohio, grandchildren Michael Cameron of Columbus, Ohio, Michelle (Brad) Ritchie of Defiance, Ohio, and two great grandchildren Zachary and Alyssa Ritchie of Defiance, Ohio, a brother Vincent (Kay) Monseau of New Martinsville, WV. and cousins Paul (Dee) Barone of Weirton, WV. and Camillo (Patsy) Barone of Louisville, Kentucky. He was also beloved as a brother-in-law, uncle and great uncle.

Augie worked at Weirton Steel as a construction mechanic. Retiring in 1999 after 44 years of service. He was a handyman and a jack of all trades and enjoyed helping family and friends with do-it-yourself projects.

In his spare time, he was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed gardening.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1957-1962 and is a member of the Tri-State Marine Corps and a member of the NRA.

Preceding Augie in death were two brothers Edward Monseau and Frank Sessi.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Sunday from noon- 2 p.m. On Monday, friends may call at St. Peter Catholic Church, 425 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville, Ohio from noon until the time of funeral mass at 1 p.m. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Tri-State Marine Corps or St. Peter Church Restoration Fund.

    Mrs. Nezick and Martin,I was so sad to hear of Augie's passing. I remember when he would attend Martin's Big Red football games. No one could miss him when he drove his unique red truck around town! Sending prayers and comforts of peace for you and your family during this difficult time. Memory Eternal.

    My long time friend , please know I'm praying for you Martin & your mother and family. Your father August was an amazing man. I remember many conversations with your Dad. Such an incredible montivator and always had natural calmness to him. Big Red memories go directly through Mr. Nezick. I always have thought the world of you and your family. Peace be with you all.
