Arthur Joseph Marx 82 died Monday, February 14, 2005 at his residence. A resident of Steubenville for only five years, moving here from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Arthur and his wife Irene were always impressed with the friendliness and compassion of the people in Steubenville. He was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on April 13, 1922 a son of the late Charles and Martha Masloff Marx. Arthur retired from General Electric Lighting Division as a design engineer. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; K of C Council 1183 in Twinsburg, Ohio; K of C Grand Knight in Cleveland Heights; American Legion Post 104 in South Euclid; St. Margaret Mary Parish Boy Scout Council; and Citizens for Educational Freedom charter member. After his retirement, he volunteered at Womenkind in Garfield Heights, Ohio. Arthur served as a First Lt. in US Army Ordnance Corps during WWII. Preceding Arthur in death were four brothers and two sisters. Arthur is survived by his wife Irene Catherine Kolinski Marx; children Peter Marx of Atlanta, Georgia, Steven (Mary) Marx of Cleveland Heights, Jane (Robert “Bob”) Evans of Amsterdam, Ohio, Martha Marx of Steubenville and Mary (Kevin) Donnelly of Houston, Texas; and eleven grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass noon Friday at Holy Family Church with Rev. Richard J. Tuttle officiating. Entombment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Vigil service 8:45 p.m. Thursday Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services at the cemetery chapel.
