Ann Zende, 93, of Wintersville, Ohio died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Bolger Country Club Manor.  She was born January 2, 1921 in Steubenville, Ohio a daughter of the late Marko and Dorothy Ribar Smogonovich.  She was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church.  Ann was a loving mother and sister.  Ann was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Zende; five brothers George, Robert, Nick, Milan and James Smogonovich and two sisters Anna Trbovich and Sophia Nagy.  Surviving are her sons Ralph (Donna) Zende of Steubenville, OH and Mark (Cindy) Zende of Wintersville, OH; sister Helen (Harold) Otey of Weirton, WV; special friend and neighbor Lee (Amelia) DeBias of Wintersville, OH and many nieces and nephews.  Private services were held at the convenience of the family at Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville.  Burial at Fort Steuben.  Memorial donations may be directed to Valley Hospice 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943 or Starkdale Presbyterian Church 4600 Sunset Boulevard, Steubenville, Ohio 43953.
