Andrew J. “Minnie” Mihnak, Jr., 85, of Mingo Junction, OH went home to be with his lord on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Trinity West ER. He was born February 19, 1923 in Mingo Junction, Ohio a son of the late Andrew J. and Bertha Rashko Mihnak, Sr. Minnie was a member of the former Annunciation Catholic Church and Kathryn Kuhlman Foundation. He served in the Army during WW II in India, China and Burma and retired as a stationary engineer from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He was a Mingo Junction resident for most of his life and was a loving husband and father who will never be forgotten. Minnie especially loved sports baseball, football and hockey. He was known by his friends as “Minnie”. He will always be remembered for his smile and wit. Minnie was preceded in death by his brother John S. Mihnak on September 30, 1987 and sister Mary Frances Mihnak on November 18, 1975. Surviving are his wife Mildred Vudrogovic Mihnak; daughter Andrea (John) Karpinski of Massillon, OH and sister Bernadine Lee of Dayton, OH. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Ave., Mingo Junction Sunday 2-5 p.m. where a service will be held Monday 11 a.m. with Rev. Denny Hazen officiating. Burial at Oakland Cemetery.

Born in the company house right next door to Andy and his family nearly 75 years ago, I remember him well. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mildred and Andrea, and to Bernadine. Even though we move away, our hometown memories stay.
