Obituary For Andre B. "Andy" Celestin

Andre B. “Andy” Celestin, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Union Hospital, Dover, Ohio. He was born on August 17, 1939 in Pittsburgh the son of the late Louis and Edith Manierre Celestin. He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan “Sue” Scott Celestin and daughter, Beth VanWeelden.

Andy worked at Weirton Steel as the general manager of marketing and ultimately retired from Akzo Nobel. He was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church; Toronto Lodge #583 F&AM, and a member of the Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite where he served in many capacities. He was the Valley Treasurer, Past Most Wise Master, Past Commander in Chief, served as Chairman of the Executive Committee Board, served as the Deputy’s Representative for several years, and was Conferred as an Honorary 33° Degree Mason in Pittsburgh, PA in 2000. He was a former trustee at Union Cemetary.

Andy loved the craft of woodworking, golfing and volunteering at The Fort Steuben.

He is survived by his children Scott (Kathi) Celestin and Amy (Brad) Albert; 4 granddaughters, Megan (Konstantine) Diamaduros, Susan (Stephen) Spirlock, Kasey Celestin & Karli Celestin, 3 great-grandchildren and son-in-law Dr. George VanWeelden.

Friends may gather at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Friday, July 26th from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon, with Masonic services held at 11:30. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Sue and daughter, Beth.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to The Fort Steuben, Steubenville OH

    I am so very sorry. He and Sue were such dear friends, and Andy and I maintained this friendship, talking frequently on the phone and occasional visits. I loved them both . Scott and Amy, I love you., too, and offer huge hugs for both of you. I'm not physically able to be there, except in spirit. But I'll be there! Much love Dorette

    So sorry to learn of Andy's passing. He and Sue were great friends with whom we shared many conversations, dinners, bridge games and trips. He will be missed .

    So very sorry to hear of Andy's passing.I had an opportunity to meet Andy as a student at Jefferson County Community College. Such a wonderful man.
