Alfred Orr “Sonny” Haverfield, Jr. 72 of Steubenville, Ohio died Sunday September 26, 2004 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born in Steubenville on August 18, 1932 a son of the late Dr. Alfred O. and Grace Miley Haverfield, Sr. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church; Pilgrim Lodge 691 F&AM; and Steubenville Shrine Club. Sonny was the owner and operator of a steel fabricating company in Steubenville for several years; worked at W.B. Coal Co. and retired as a draftsman from the City of Steubenville Engineering Dept. He served as a Staff Sargeant in the USAF during the Korean Conflict. Preceding Sonny in death was his brother Richard M. Haverfield. Surviving are his wife Janet L. Brandt Haverfield whom he married on September 29, 1951; daughter Vicki L. (Richard) Rodriguez of Miami, FL; son Kevin Ray (Laura) Haverfield of Pittsville, MA; six grandchildren Krista, Megan and Ross Rodriguez of Miami, Courtney and Rachel Haverfield of Pittsville and Amber Haverfield of Oklahoma; brother Dr. Thomas (Barbara) Haverfield of Moundsville, WV; sister Jane (Arthur) Baz of Steubenville; and sister-in-law Beverly Haverfield of Steubenville. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Walter A. Coppersmith officiating.
