Alfred L. “Blacky” Blackburn, 75, of Mingo Junction, Ohio died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his home. He was born August 8, 1935 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late John C. and Audrey J. Elliott Blackburn. Blacky was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Mingo Junction Sanitation Department. Preceding Blacky in death was his sister-in-law Jean “Liz” Blackburn. Surviving are his brother John L. Blackburn of Circleville, OH; two nieces Carrie Wilson of Circleville, OH and Vickie Adams of New Mexico and three cousins Betty Macre of Weirton, WV, Jacqueline Rae Pate of Follansbee, WV and James Elliott of Follansbee, WV. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Road, Mingo Junction on Sunday 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. where a funeral service will be held Monday 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. John Beard officiating. Burial at Oakland Cemetery.
