Alfred L. Ludewig, Sr. 89 of Wintersville, Ohio died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Trinity West. He was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on June 13, 1915, a son of the late Frank and Ida Wilhemena Hemshrodt Ludewig. Alfred retired from Weirton Steel as a guide setter in the 54” Hot Mill. A Methodist by faith, he held membership in Pilgrim Lodge 691 F&AM; Scottish Rite and the 25 Year Club. Preceding Alfred in death were his wife Mildred M. Featner Ludewig on June 2, 2001; two grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters. Alfred is survived by his sons Alfred L. “Bub” (Carole) Ludewig, Jr. of Wintersville, William F. “Pepper” (Shirley) Ludewig of Steubenville and George E. Ludewig of New York, New York; daughters Joann (Robert) Whanger, Mary Louise “Minnie” (Tom) Walters, Charlene (Doug) Freshwater and Anna Peterson all of Wintersville; 15 grandchildren; 22 great and 5 great great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.; where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with Minister Steve Alexander officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben. Masonic services 7:30 p.m. Friday Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505-5097
