Adonna was always held safe in the palm of her Father’s hand, and His love brought her home to be with Him when her days on earth were through. This was always her most cherished desire. The Lord who created her, covenanted with her and sustained her, who compassionately healed her and gave her the opportunity to be a blessing to so many others throughout her life, called her home. And now, she’s seen her Father’s face and hears his voice, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Let us rejoice.
Adonna Eileen (Oliver) Joyce, 91, was born on March 8, 1934 and passed away December 11, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Samuel F. Oliver, Sr and Gladys I. Oliver. She lived in Steubenville and Wintersville, Ohio her entire life.
She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and found her home in the message of the Restored Gospel all her days. Her testimony and witness of the Christ were the foundation of her character and life. She served the church in many capacities, and was a wonderful inspiration to the people she worshipped with in Steubenville, Morgantown, and the rest of the West Virginia District and Ohio Region. She spent many of her waning days fellowshipping with and befriending members of the All Saints Group scattered across the US and the world..
Adonna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Regis Joyce, Jr, her son Timothy James Joyce, and her sister Beverly (Roy) Jones.
Surviving family members include her son David (Kristy) Joyce, her daughter-in-law Carol, her sister Leona Oliver, and brother Samuel (Karen) Oliver and nephew Brian. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren TJ, Andrew (Brianne), and Heather and great grandchildren Jack, Cayden, and William.
Throughout most of her working years, Adonna was a switchboard operator and receptionist at the Jefferson County Courthouse. She was a graduate of Steubenville High School. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was a part of several local musical theater productions. She had a sweet voice whose tenderness remained even as the years took their toll.
May it be said of her: How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who bring forth good tidings, who publish peace, who publish salvation, that say unto Zion, “Thy God reigneth.” The testimony of her life speaks volumes. Now she truly walks in the garden, along the old, old path with the Savior..side by side, hand in hand. Forever.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
