Clair Lewis Jenkins 75 of Steubenville, OH died Sunday, March 31, 2002 at Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Lorain, Ohio on February 13, 1927 a son of the late Lewis D. and Edna M. Bickel Jenkins. He was a former principal and retired head band director for Alhambra School District # 68 in Phoenix, AZ. Clair was an amateur ham radio operator using the call letters K7UZN; served as a US Army Ranger and was a member of Glendale American Legion. He was preceeded in death by his stepdaughter Karen Gilcrest and one brother Dr. Gerald Jenkins. Surviving are his wife V. Marlee Gilcrest Jenkins; two sons David (Beverly) Jenkins of Phoenix and Dale Jenkins of Glendale, AZ; one daughter Michelle (Dale) McIntire of Las Vegas, NV; stepson John Gilcrest of Steubenville; mother-in-law Ruth V. Williams of Steubenville and seven grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Graveside services 10 a.m. Friday at Union Cemetery, Steubenville with Minister Tom Arehart officiating.
